According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crow has signed a talent deal with Nickelodeon (which, like MTV, is owned by Viacom Inc.) that will have her starring in her own as-yet-unnamed musical comedy series pilot. She's also signed a recording deal with Columbia Records. "It's been amazing," she told the Reporter about her post "Factor" ride. "A couple days after the elimination I just found myself sitting home asking myself, 'What am I going to do now?' And I never would've thought that this is what I was going do now. So, it's pretty amazing. I'm very thankful and I feel very blessed to have all this."
In addition to the Nickelodeon pilot, Crow has also been given a recurring role on the network's new series, "Fred: The Show," which stars Lucas Cruikshank. She's already begun filming scenes as the character Starr, described as "an eccentric girl who acts and sings and, as her name indicates, wants to be famous." She's slated to appear in at least five episodes that will air in the spring.
Crow plans to begin recording her debut album later this year. In the meantime, the singer said she's just overjoyed to be on the same label as such major stars as "Beyoncé Adele and Celine Dion.
"Columbia was awesome for me. This is the top, which is really cool," Crow said. "Beyonce and Adele. And I'm in the same family as them, which is really awesome." She promised that her disc would be "spunky" and that "it's just gonna be me."

Men: A recent British study shows that more than 80 percent of men regularly engage in conversation about their bodies, that three in five men are unhappy with their muscularity and that more than one-third of men would trade a year of their life to achieve their ideal body weight or shape.
Younger children: From 1999 to 2006, hospitalizations for eating disorders increased sharply ? 119 percent ? for children younger than 12 years of age, according to recent analysis by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
?It?s important to be aware that eating disorders can happen to anyone?men, older women and younger children,? continued Dr. Weiner. ?Do not discount disordered eating behaviors or concerning body image issues just because they are displayed by an individual believed to be outside of the traditional ?eating disorder demographic.??
Eating Recovery Center encourages individuals to quickly respond if they notice troubling food- or body image-oriented behaviors in their loved ones, regardless of age or gender. Solitude ? Firefly Creative Writing
I was so excited about the opportunity?.It was going to be great adventure and very fruitful.? I moved myself and moved my son from the place where the ocean is only 2 degrees warmer in the summer than the winter.? Where we can find the highest tides in the world.? Where we have the only reversible falls in the world, and where I blossomed.
My journey started with huge promises. I found myself in a dark place.? I had to get out to the sun every day to keep my spirit up.? But I knew it was temporary so I kept going.? I left all my beautiful friends behind and was spending time with me, myself and I more and more often.? I enjoyed the peacefulness that me being alone created but it felt extreme sometimes.? Slowing down?? Time to think?? What a concept!? Positive change all around?. New city, new surroundings, and new pace for a little while only but still very enjoyable.
Then my solitude got darker but this time it was physically speaking?.? Humongous clouds moved in?I found myself in a dark forest ? a very old forest?.Huge trees ? very tall, very thick.? I could not go through? the forest was so dense.? So I crumbled and found myself on the ground? scared, wondering what would happen this time, and why is this happening to me?
I am all alone in this forest.? In front of me, there is one path? a tiny one but a path so I must take it.? Behind is not easily possible at this time; going left or right is not possible.? The only path that I can see is in front.? So here I go on that sinuous path.? I have no idea how long it is; I cannot see more than 10 meters at a time? there is no light? It is narrow beige path within a dark green and dense fiolage.? Her I go? not knowing where it leads.? But I must go?.
I walk and walk for weeks, feeling less scared as I progress through? the dark narrow path in front of me?.I do not have a choice? I must go.? Alone on this path, not knowing for how long, I talk to myself, take care of myself, take the time to rest, and most importantly, take one step at a time and decide not to feel guilty for not going faster or slower.? I look around and admire the beauty of the dense forest that surrounds me.? Sometimes, I fall.? Sometimes I stay down for a little while, as I just need to rest.? Then I go again? until?
The point where I get a glance of a blue sky?? I am so excited to see some light that I feel lighter?and then I find a large body of water? a bit rough but water.? It is open space, brighter.? Not sunny yet, but much brighter.??? The sky opens up? it is blue with beautiful white clouds.? The sun picking through the clouds.? I am so happy?. Still alone but happy I have taken the dark path alone and it took me to a brighter spot.? Water is cold and is close to become rapids? a bit rough but not too rough?
Still alone but in a different landscape.? New colors, new smells, new sounds, new tastes, and new feelings?new hope all together.? Still feel like a scared kitty, moving slowly, being cautious, observing, and going forward slowly.? Still shy but ready to play and get close to new people, discover the new landscape, and getting wet.
I keep moving for few more days in this wet, blue and white, and yellow landscape.? The more I move forward and farther behind is the dark forest?.I am not sacred to be alone?
And then, what do I see?? A very thing green stem that has two tiny green leaves coming out.? It is a rebirth!? A little white bird tries to touch it or eat it or try to land on the stem but it is too fragile so it just flies around and admires the newness of what can be seen.
I know now that on my journey alone, I had to learn to believe in me and trust that everything would be ok.? Had I not been alone at this point, had I not taken that dark sinuous path, had I not taken the time to walk, had I not taken the time to stay down when needed and get up to take few more steps every day, had I not done that? I would not be in a new place today; I would not have realized that I can trust myself to find a way, that everything is ok and that after a storm, the sun comes out?

BAGHDAD (AP) ? A suicide bomber detonated his car Sunday as a group of police recruits left their academy in Baghdad, killing 20 in the latest strike on security officials that angry residents blamed on political feuding that is roiling Iraq.
Police said the suicide bomber was waiting on the street outside the fortified academy near the Interior Ministry in an eastern neighborhood in the Iraqi capital. As the crowd of recruits exited the compound's security barriers around 1 p.m. and walked into the road, police said the bomber drove toward them and blew up his car.
"We heard a big explosion and the windows of the room shattered," said Haider Mohammed, 44, an employee in the nearby Police Sports Club, about 100 yards (meters) from the academy's gate. He described a horrific scene of burning cars, scattered pieces of burned flesh and wounded people flattened on the ground.
"Everybody here knows the time when the recruits come and go from the academy," Mohammed said. "This is a breach of security."
Five policemen were among the dead; the rest were recruits. Another 28 recruits and policemen were wounded.
Officials at three nearby hospitals confirmed the casualties.
All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.
Iraq's police are generally considered to be the weakest element of the country's security forces, which are attacked in bombings and drive-by shootings almost every day. The last big assault on police came in October, when 25 people were killed in a string of attacks that included two bombers slamming explosives-packed cars into police stations.
Recruits, too, are a favorite target. Suicide bombers killed scores of young men lined up for security jobs at training centers in Baghdad and the northern city of Tikrit in recent years. The public outcry that followed from lawmakers and residents after those attacks spurred the government to bolster training and recruiting centers with better protection.
But, as Sunday's attacks showed, extremists are easily able to sidestep security measures. At Baghdad's police academy, recruits generally are escorted out of the compound to ensure their safety. But once they get to the street outside, they are on their own.
It was at that point that the bomber struck on Sunday. The group of recruits had left the compound's barrier gates and were crossing the road to hail a taxi or bus ride home after finishing a two-week training course.
Shiite lawmaker Hakim al-Zamili, who sits on parliament's security and defense committee, said the academy's officials should have been more careful about letting the recruits go at the same time every day. He said that was a pattern that insurgents easily noted.
"This was negligence by security officials in charge of academy security," al-Zamili said.
Al-Zamili blamed al-Qaida for launching the attack but raised the possibility that it aimed to ramp up bitterness among Iraqis already exasperated with ongoing political fighting that has consumed the government for weeks. "The political feuds are contributing to such security violations because they are demoralizing the security members," he said.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing, but suicide attacks are a hallmark of al-Qaida.
The terror group's potency in Iraq has waned since its heyday five years ago, when the country teetered on the brink of civil war. But last week, Iraqi and U.S. officials acknowledged al-Qaida remains a viable threat, noting fears that local fighters in the Sunni-dominated insurgent network were shifting to Syria to aid forces opposing the regime of President Bashar Assad.
But some of Baghdad's residents said Sunday's attack likely was rooted in political turbulence that has shaken Iraq in recent weeks.
In findings that were expected to hike already-simmering sectarian tensions, a judicial panel last week said that at least 150 attacks and assassinations since 2005 were linked to Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi, Iraq's highest-ranking Sunni official.
The charges against al-Hashemi, who has sought haven from arrest in the autonomous northern Kurdish region, were first brought in December by the Shiite-led government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Al-Hashemi has denied the charges and is expected to give a speech in the coming days to defend himself.
"The people were expecting such attacks because of the current tense political atmosphere in the country," said Ali Rahim, 40, a government employee. "Those poor recruits were looking to send the salary to their families and now they are going to be sent as dead bodies to these families."
Al-Hashemi is a member of the secular but Sunni-dominated Iraqiya political bloc, which on Sunday accused the government of rehashing the charges on state TV at the risk of inflaming current strains.
Repeating the accusations against al-Hashemi "will provoke the public and create more tension as political blocs are working to defuse the tension and end the crisis," Iraqiya spokeswoman Maysoun al-Damluji said in a statement.
The judicial panel's findings against al-Hashemi are not legally binding, and he is entitled to a trial. But it opened the door to let 15 relatives of those killed in the attacks allegedly linked to al-Hashemi file lawsuits against him.
Also Sunday, Iraqi investigators in the southern port city of Um Qasr said a Shiite mosque that was partially destroyed in an overnight fire was likely an act of sabotage, according to two police officials. Almost all the furniture in the mosque, including copies of the Quran, the Muslim holy book, were burned.
Officials said they suspected a rival Shiite group of the arson. No arrests have been announced.

Teens in foster care need 'a break' to turn around their lives | ksl.com
CENTERVILLE ? Rosa McFarland had pretty much resigned herself to the idea that her life would probably turn out like that of her birth parents.
Neither parent finished high school. They were drug addicts and their lives were chaotic to the point that McFarland, then in elementary school, made frequent calls to police.
By age 8 she was placed in the state foster care system, where she and her siblings had multiple placements. By the time she was in her early teens, she simply hoped to be placed in a foster home where she would "feel comfortable" until she aged out of the system.
The odds of a teenager in Utah's foster care system finding a family willing to care for them is steep. Adoption? Even steeper, and the odds drop the closer the child gets to age 18.
A 2011 legislative audit showed that among nearly 1,300 licensed foster care families statewide, only about 200 were willing to care for children ages 14-18.
"There's this myth out there that children in foster care, particularly teenagers, are there because they've done something wrong. Something has happened to them to cause them to be removed from their primary caregivers or families of origin through no fault of their own," said Maryanne McFarland, who would care for and later adopt Rosa.

Some people become foster parents with the intent of adopting children they foster, which can mean they are more selective about the age of child they request.
"More people are open to that when the kids are younger," said Elizabeth Sollis, spokeswoman for the Utah Department of Human Services.?
Some teens, particularly those who have been in state custody for a number of years, may be more difficult to place because of mental health issues or other therapy requirements. "There might be a stipulation that the child can't be in a home with other kids. That can make it (placement) more difficult, too," Sollis said.
What foster teens need most "is structure, a safe environment and a connection to a caring adult that they can carry through their lives," said Mike Hamblin, director of foster family recruitment for the Utah Foster Care Foundation.
But with a scarcity of homes, stories like Rosa's become rare as teens move from home to home, or wind up in group homes.
"I never thought I'd have another family and that I'd belong," Rosa McFarland said.
"Who wants to keep a 17-year-old? Who wants to do that?"
When Maryanne and David McFarland met Rosa, they thought their association would last only a short time. Another couple was finalizing paperwork for her adoption and the McFarlands had agreed to take care of her until the process was completed, Rosa McFarland said.
But that first adoption was never finalized.
"They tried their hardest but it wasn't a good fit. I wasn?t in love with those people. I couldn't see myself being with those people forever," Rosa McFarland said.
When the adoption didn't work out, Rosa was headed to yet another placement, likely a group home. But by then she had become part of the McFarland family.
"We said, 'We don't need to go anywhere else'" to find her an adoptive home, Maryanne McFarland said. 'She belongs here,'"

Of nearly1,300 licensed foster care families statewide, only about 200 were willing to care for children ages 14-18. 30 percent of children who age out of foster care end up incarcerated.
With the love and guidance of her adoptive parents, she graduated from high school. She attended college for a while and now has a full-time job at an auto dealership. In recent years she's become reacquainted with some members of her birth family. Both her birth parents died of drug overdoses, she said.
"I didn't think I was adoptable. They did me the biggest favor saying they wanted to keep me," she said of her adoptive parents.
The McFarlands have seven children, all adopted. The couple has also fostered some 40 girls in state custody over the past nine years. Maryanne McFarland just calls them "my girls" and her relationship with many of them continues.
The McFarlands are the trusted pair many of the girls call when they've had a bad week, they need advice about a car repair or they want to share the happy news of an engagement or a pregnancy.
"My girls are just regular girls. They want to go to prom. They want have their nails done. They want to be girls and have fun and reach their goals. They have the same dreams as any teenage girl," she said.
Teenagers end up in foster care for the same reasons as younger children, "abuse or neglect in their biological homes," Hamblin said.
Finding them support by increasing the number of foster families is the focus of the Utah Foster Care Foundation, which will conduct three public forums featuring teenagers who have been in foster care as well as foster families that have experience with caring for teens.
Teens who don't forge bonds are less likely to graduate from high school, thus at higher risks of unemployment and homelessness. One study reports 30 percent of children who age out of foster care end up incarcerated.
Locally, roughly half of the teens and young adults served by Volunteers of America ? Utah's programs for homeless youth ? were in the state's foster care system at some point in their lives, said spokeswoman Michelle Templin.
"That's a pretty big number of kids who were involved in foster care or aged out of foster care who didn't have the skills or the financial resources to move into self-sufficiency," Templin said.
"There a lot of kids who need foster adoptions. They're really important to help young people grow into adults."
Maryanne McFarland said she and her husband have gleaned many life lessons from their experiences with the girls.
"When you hear their stories you think 'When is this kid going to get a break?' You'll see one thing upon another upon another that has happened. You think 'That kid needs a break.' That break could be you."
Rosa McFarland, now 27, has profound appreciation for the difference her adoptive family made in her life, as well as their ongoing efforts on behalf of teenage girls they care for as foster parents.
"They did me the biggest favor saying they wanted to keep me. I didn't think I was adoptable," Rosa McFarland said. "Nobody wants to be on their own. They want to be loved and cared for and comfortable."
The Utah Foster Care Foundation will host two public forums this month on the rewards and challenges of fostering teenagers.
